From Magento to VTEX, with less infrastructure.

We migrate Magento 2 and Adobe Commerce to VTEX IO and FastStore end to end, preserving catalog, customers, order history and SEO.

Leave a stack that demands servers, patches and upgrades

Move to a commerce-native SaaS platform, with clear timelines, costs and risks from the assessment onward.

  • Assessment of your current Magento, at no cost.
  • Migration plan with timeline, cost and risks.
  • SEO, URLs and history preserved.
  • ERP, OMS and WMS integrations re-architected.
  • Coordinated cutover, with a minimal downtime window.

Why leave Magento now

Infrastructure, upgrades and paid modules weigh more with every year of a customized Magento.

Infrastructure and DevOps costs

Magento needs robust servers, Elasticsearch, Redis, RabbitMQ, Varnish and a permanent DevOps team. On VTEX, a SaaS, there are no servers, upgrades or patches to maintain.

Magento 1 discontinued, Magento 2 expensive

Magento 1 has been discontinued, and Magento 2 requires frequent upgrades, with changes that break customizations. VTEX evolves through continuous releases, with no version migrations.

Performance and Core Web Vitals

Without an experienced team and finely tuned infrastructure, delivering mobile LCP under 2.5 s on Magento is hard. On VTEX IO and FastStore, performance is a platform standard.

Native marketplaces and payments

VTEX has native connectors for Mercado Livre, Amazon, Magalu, Shopee, Brazilian payment gateways and fraud prevention. On Magento, each integration is an ongoing maintenance cost.

B2B and multi-store

For B2B or multi-brand operations, VTEX offers native B2B Suite and multi-account. On Magento, that usually turns into heavy customization.

Talent in Brazil

The supply of VTEX professionals in Brazil is much larger than for Magento, which lowers vendor risk and hiring costs.

Typical risks and how we mitigate them

Five risks that show up in almost every Magento migration, with the response defined before cutover.

Loss of organic trafficSEO from phase 2: a 301 matrix covering Magento's canonical URLs, preserved metadata and daily monitoring after go-live.
Inconsistent order and customer historyVersioned ETL with automated validation, total reconciliation, manual sampling and loads in controlled rounds before cutover.
Modules with no VTEX equivalentFunctional mapping during the assessment, native VTEX apps when they exist and dedicated IO apps when they don't.
Marketplaces stopping at cutoverNative VTEX connectors or middleware, with end-to-end tests in staging before go-live.
Team used to MagentoHands-on training in the VTEX interface, step-by-step comparisons with Magento and hypercare with the internal team operating alongside us.

SEO run as a project, from planning onward

On Magento, catalog URLs are very flexible, sitemaps follow different rules and faceted filters can index thousands of parallel URLs. A dedicated workstream protects organic traffic.

  • Audit of the current Magento: most-visited URLs, URLs with backlinks and performance by template.
  • 1:1 matrix of 301 redirects for critical URLs.
  • Slugs preserved whenever possible.
  • Sitemap rebuilt and critical metadata replicated.
  • Daily monitoring of indexing, rankings and organic traffic after go-live.

High-level estimate

Timelines and costs vary with volumes, customizations, B2B or B2C and the number of integrations. The detailed estimate comes at the end of the assessment.

3 to 7 monthsTypical timeline, from assessment to go-live
4 to 7 peopleDedicated squad

Simpler B2C operations take 3 to 4 months. Complex B2B or multi-brand operations can take up to 9 months.

Magento to VTEX migration: analysis

Why Magento became a cost problem

For many years, Magento was the main open-source option for those who wanted full control of their e-commerce. The cost of that control is high: dedicated servers or expensive cloud, permanent DevOps, upgrades that break customizations, paid modules that don't keep pace with the platform and Core Web Vitals that rarely turn green without heavy investment.

Operations that started small and grew to tens or hundreds of millions in GMV find that keeping Magento for five more years costs more than migrating to a modern SaaS. Adobe Commerce has moved toward B2B and enterprise, with high licensing costs. VTEX, a native SaaS with a strong presence in Brazil, delivers equivalent capability with no infrastructure to maintain.

How we protect SEO in a Magento migration

Magento migrations carry their own SEO risks: the catalog URL structure is very flexible and may change format on VTEX, dynamic sitemaps follow different rules and faceted filter modules can index thousands of parallel URLs.

The SEO workstream starts with a full audit of the current Magento, covering most-visited URLs, URLs with backlinks and performance by template. That produces a 1:1 redirect matrix for critical cases and slug preservation for the rest. The sitemap is rebuilt, critical metadata is replicated and, after go-live, indexing, rankings and organic traffic are tracked daily.

Catalog, attributes and business rules

Magento catalogs tend to have rich structures: attribute sets and configurable, bundle and grouped products. Mapping to VTEX reviews that model and often simplifies what grew unchecked over the years. Attributes become specifications, configurable products become SKUs with variations and pricing and promotion rules are translated into the VTEX promotions engine.

CCX's internal ETL tools automate much of this mapping and allow incremental loads with reconciliation, which lowers the risk of reaching cutover with an inconsistent catalog.

Marketplaces, ERP, payment gateways and fraud prevention

A mature Magento usually accumulates paid modules for marketplaces, ERP, payment gateways and fraud prevention. On VTEX, many of these integrations are native or available as official apps.

For ERP, we use ready-made connectors for TOTVS Protheus, SAP, Oracle and Senior, or custom middleware. For marketplaces, VTEX connectors for Mercado Livre, Amazon, Magalu, Shopee and others. For payment gateways and fraud prevention, the VTEX portfolio covers the main players in Brazil. The operation moves from a landscape of paid modules to an integrated platform operation.

Team, governance and continuity

Migration simplifies day-to-day operations. Instead of a team split across DevOps, Magento back end, front end and integrations, the operation needs a lean business and configuration team, with a few developers focused on lightweight extensions in React and TypeScript.

CCX delivers the migration and the enablement of the internal team, with learning tracks for marketing, IT, support and operations. After hypercare, most clients keep CCX as an on-demand squad or monthly advisory, with the internal team running daily operations autonomously.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a Magento to VTEX migration take?

Typical projects take 3 to 7 months. Simpler B2C operations take 3 to 4 months; complex B2B or multi-brand operations can take up to 9 months.

What is the investment range?

It depends on volumes, customizations, the number of integrations and B2B complexity. The detailed estimate comes at the end of the assessment.

Will there be downtime at cutover?

In general, the effective window is a few hours, concentrated in low-traffic hours. With blue/green and a final sync, the perceived impact is very low.

What happens to order history?

We migrate the relevant history, from the last 12 to 24 months, to VTEX and archive the rest in a data lake, for lookup through BI and compliance.

Do I keep my SEO after the migration?

Yes, with process discipline: a 301 redirect matrix, preserved slugs and metadata, a controlled sitemap and daily monitoring after go-live.

What about a catalog with 100,000 SKUs?

We migrate large catalogs with dedicated ETL, loads in rounds and catalog and search performance tests before promoting to production.

Do ERP and marketplace integrations keep working?

Yes. Many of them are native on VTEX or available as official apps. Custom integrations are re-architected and tested end to end before cutover.

What is my team's role during the migration?

Decisions, approvals and sign-off. The CCX squad handles execution and, in parallel, we prepare the internal team to run operations autonomously.
